Our Somerset West campus start to introduce the Cambridge  International curriculum to lower stages 7, 8 and IGCSE 1 for the first time in 2023 and will phase out IEB.

Cambridge International is a stand-alone international curriculum. It is internationally recognised as the golden standard of education and backed by the first-class teaching and research departments of the University of Cambridge.  The Cambridge curriculum is thus the preferred choice for students seeking to study at top institutions in South Africa and internationally.

This gives the students the option to write the external Cambridge International IGCSE examinations at the end of Grade 10. Generation Schools offers our students multiple matric exit qualifications via an IEB Matric pathway, the Cambridge AS/A Level pathway or an alternative matric qualification through our Sí pathway.

The Sí pathway is our unique and innovative tertiary-in-secondary stream that allows students to accelerate their journey by unlocking alternative qualifications and learning approaches while still in high school, creating a variety of school exit credits.

Our Sí Pathway encompasses a set of International Access Qualifications that grants our students the opportunity to complete a matric equivalence NQF 4 certificate as well as progress to higher tertiary levelled qualifications while still within our high school environments.

Generation Schools will offer our IEB stream to all existing students currently in IEB. This includes grades 10, 11 and 12, and those going into grade 10. We will introduce the Cambridge International curriculum to lower stages 7 and 8 in 2023, phasing out IEB.

Antoinette Beck-Kaltenrieder

Antoinette Beck-Kaltenrieder holds two Honours degrees (in English and in Education), a Masters degree in French and an Advanced certificate in Education Administration, Management and Development.  She also holds a certificate in Human Resources Management. She is a SACE registered teacher, a registered assessor and moderator with the ETDP SETA, and worked for Umalusi in the Schools Evaluation and Accreditation Division as a schools’ evaluator and monitor for 6 years.

She has over 28 years of teaching experience predominantly in independent education, but has also taught in state schools as well as in the UK and has spent the last 22 years in school management in one or other capacity.  She has taught French and English, as well as Life Orientation and Computer Literacy in IEB schools, and has taught both French and English in the Cambridge and Pearson systems from Year 5 all the way to A levels.  She has experience both as an IEB examiner as well as a Cambridge examiner. Her passion is linguistics and the science of language learning and is never happier than when she is developing materials.

Her school leadership philosophy is two-fold – to ensure that staff and parents form a united team for the benefit of the students and to grow other leaders – be they students or staff. The highlight of her day is dropping into the classrooms on a daily basis and interacting with staff and students.  Restorative justice is the key to her disciplinary style, and she always seeks to understand the situation and underlying circumstances before making a decision.
