We choose to pair the Cambridge International curriculum with our philosophy of education in order to offer our students an international education.
We want to allow our students the opportunity to study both locally or internationally. The curriculum stretches, challenges and inspires our students to extend themselves and think ‘outside of the box’. Cambridge also believes in the Professional Development of educators. This pairs closely with the Generation Schools’ philosophy of developing and upskilling our staff. Generation Schools is a Professional Development Centre. All our educators are placed in a development course to develop their passion and skills for teaching and learning.
The curriculum at Generation Schools is based on the programmes of the University of Cambridge International Examinations group. Starting with Cambridge Primary and moving through to IGCSE, AS and A Level in the senior years. The integrated international programmes ensure a smooth transition through the years of schooling. Providing the opportunity for students to succeed in a stimulating, externally validated and highly respected world-class educational programme. Ultimately, the qualifications which can be obtained by our senior students can open the doors to universities all over the world.
For the younger learners what is important is that the child experiences a more logical and reasoned learning process. Active learning facilitated through first hand experiences engages the child to further make sense of their world.
This powerful method of education is what sets Generation Schools apart, as theme-based education is the grounding of logical thinking – which is the corner stone of critical analysis and understanding.
The Cambridge Curriculum is divided into four stages:
- Cambridge Primary (ages 6 to 12)
- Cambridge Secondary 1 (ages 12 to 15)
- Cambridge Secondary 2 (ages 15 to 16) leading to the IGCSE qualification
- Cambridge Advanced (ages 16 to 19) leading to the AS and A Level qualifications
The Generation School ‘bands’ are not only for peer to peer engagement through different ages. It is also linked to the structure of the Cambridge curriculum which makes this the perfect fit.
Cambridge Associates are educational organisations that work with Cambridge International to deliver the Cambridge Pathway to individual schools, colleges or directly to learners. Cambridge Associates provide the link between Cambridge International and individual schools and colleges. We identify and attract schools to support the growth of Cambridge programmes and qualifications in South Africa, and manage the relationship with these schools on Cambridge’s behalf.
