We do not test memory, but rather explore understanding.

About Generation Schools

Welcome to Generation Schools. We draw on the best of several educational traditions rather than binding ourselves to any one of them.

A Montessori-inspired approach runs through our early years and junior school. Children learn in carefully prepared classrooms, work with hands-on materials, and are given the time and independence to go deeper on what interests them. Mixed-age grouping means younger children learn from older ones, and older children consolidate their understanding by teaching it.

Alongside that, we bring the structure, subject rigour and clear reporting that families expect and that high school demands. Children should be able to work with genuine independence and still be entirely ready for Grade 8. Those two things are not in tension, and holding both is the point.

In our high schools, families choose the pathway that fits their child. The IEB leads to the National Senior Certificate, South Africa’s most widely recognised independent school-leaving qualification. Cambridge International offers IGCSE, AS and A Levels as an international matriculation route. The Sí Pathway offers accredited International Access Qualifications, accredited by ATHE (Awards for Training and Higher Education), for students who thrive outside a conventional exam-driven model. Availability differs by campus.

Generation Schools Vision & Mission

At Generation Schools, we do not test memory; we explore knowledge. Our mission is to inspire curiosity, fuel knowledge, and invite experience. We focus on reaching each child as an individual within the context of their community, creating opportunities for them to grow as independent and critical thinkers, unbounded by limits.

We believe in discovering the unique talents of every child, fostering an environment where curiosity reigns and the love of learning is actively encouraged and nurtured. Knowledge here is not only taught but also experienced.

Montessori

Each child is allowed to naturally discover their true passions, becoming creative and inventive individuals capable of pioneering new ideas rather than merely repeating the past.

The future belongs to those who keep their love for learning alive, and it is our responsibility to guide this journey.

At Generation Schools, we are committed to unlocking the potential within every student, preparing them to excel in an ever-changing world.

Nutrition

At Generation Schools, we understand the importance of good nutrition for academic performance and overall well-being. Our nutrition program ensures that students receive balanced and healthy meals every day.
Our Approach

As a school, we recognise the importance of good nutrition in improving the overall health, behaviour, learning ability and academic performance of our students. Childhood and adolescence are critical periods for diets of high nutritional quality (i.e. nutrient-dense) as the physiological need for nutrients is high, relative to energy needs. By providing students with healthy snacks and meals, they learn how to choose a healthy diet and develop many core eating habits and behavioural patterns that may persist through to adulthood; preventing or reversing the adverse health effects associated with poor eating habits.

Menu

Together with our resident dietitian and amazing chefs, our 4-week menu cycle, which includes a midmorning snack and lunch (provided to students who have selected this monthly lunch package), has been designed to meet 40% of the students’ daily nutritional requirements needed to promote growth as well as physical and mental development.

Our lunch and snack caters for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, egg-free and dairy-free diets.

Our Academic Pathways

Montessori-Inspired Foundation

Our early years and junior school draw on the Montessori method: prepared environments, mixed-age classrooms, hands-on materials and self-directed work, combined with structured literacy and mathematics teaching and clear, honest reporting. Children build genuine independence, and arrive in high school ready for it.
